What is #PurpleThursday?
- PurpleThursday is a day to raise awareness about domestic violence and show support for survivors.
- People wear purple to symbolize peace, courage, survival, honor, and support.
- PurpleThursday also aims to highlight the intersection of domestic violence and other issues, such as traumatic brain injury.
How can you participate in #PurpleThursday?
- Wear Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Day, also known as #PurpleThursday, will be observed Thursday, October 23, 2025
- Wear purple as a conversation starter and share why ending domestic violence is important to you.
- Share photos of you wearing purple with Alexandra House on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter.
@AlexHouseMN, #PurpleThursday, #DVAM2025 - Alexandra House has prepared printable signage and photo props for you to download and print to use in your photos.
NOTE: #PurpleThursday has been observed nationwide on Thursday of the third whole week in October since 2010.
