Wear Denim Day

April 30

Denim Day is a day of action and awareness on the last Wednesday of April. It’s a day to wear denim and educate others about sexual violence.

Why is it celebrated?

Denim Day was created in response to an Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction. The court ruled that the victim’s tight jeans implied consent. The day is a way to protest victim blaming and harmful attitudes towards sexual violence. It’s a day to support survivors and advocate for policies that end sexual violence.

How can you participate?

  • Wear denim to show your support for survivors
  • Attend events, workshops, or fundraisers
  • Educate yourself and others about sexual violence
  • Advocate for policies and societal changes to end sexual violence
  • Donate or fundraise to support healing services and violence prevention programming
